Websites for businesses in the Chicago suburbs
We are a small web studio from Lithuania. Robertas is in the Chicago area until November 18, 2026 and happy to meet in person. After that we work remotely, the same way we do with clients in Lithuania and Sweden.
Who we are, honestly
builtlit is the US name of built.lt, a two-person studio from Kaunas, Lithuania. We do not have an office here, and our clients so far are in Lithuania and Sweden. What we offer a business in Elgin, Huntley, Algonquin, Hampshire, Pingree Grove, Crystal Lake, Schaumburg, St. Charles and the towns around them is the same deal as everywhere: we build your first version free, in 2 days, and you decide after you have clicked around it. If it is not for you, you owe nothing.
How people here look for a local business
Mostly on a phone. About nine in ten US adults own a smartphone, and 93% of suburban adults do, according to Pew Research Center's 2026 survey. When a furnace quits in January or a basement takes on water in spring, people search right then: “furnace repair near me”, “plumber Crystal Lake”, “deck builder St. Charles”. Searches like these usually show a map with a short list of businesses first. The next tap is your phone number, your website, or someone else's.
What helps you show up on Google Maps
Google says local results depend mainly on how well your listing matches the search, how far you are from the person searching, and how well known your business is (Google's tips on local ranking). You cannot move closer to every customer, but you can get the rest right: a complete Google Business Profile, correct hours, real photos, and reviews you reply to. If you work at customers' homes and do not see customers at your own address, Google says to remove the address from your profile and list the areas you serve instead: up to 20 cities or zip codes, within about 2 hours' drive of your base (Google's guide to service areas). Your website should back all of this up and say the same thing.
What a local service business site here needs
In October 2026 we checked 119 local business websites around Elgin and wrote up what we found: slow pages, no quote form and no tap-to-call came up again and again. Whether you are a contractor, an HVAC company, a plumber or an auto repair shop, the basics are the same:
- The towns you serve, written out. “Serving Huntley, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills and Crystal Lake” tells a customer and Google more than “serving Chicagoland”. Use the same towns as your Google Business Profile.
- Your phone number as a button. On a phone, one tap should call you, and the button should be easy to find on every page.
- Your hours, matching Google. If your site and your Google profile show different hours, one of them is wrong, and the customer who drove over finds out which.
- Photos of your real jobs. A driveway you poured in Elgin, a furnace you put in in Schaumburg. Phone photos are fine. Stock photos look like everyone else.
- A link to your Google Business Profile. So people can read your reviews in one tap.
- A short request form. For the customer who is at work and cannot call. Messages should reach you right away.
- Fast on mobile data. People search from the car or the driveway, not from a desk. Check yours with the free website checker.
Meet in person until November 18, 2026
Robertas is in the area until November 18, 2026 and happy to meet in person. After that, everything runs by phone, WhatsApp and email. Lithuania is 8 hours ahead of Chicago for most of the year, so pick the best time to reach you on the form and we reach you then. The offer is the same either way: a 15 minute call, your first version free in 2 days, and then you decide. Get your free preview.
How it works
- A 15 minute call, or a meeting in person until November 18, 2026: what you do, your prices and the towns you serve.
- Your first version, free, on your phone in 2 days.
- Click around it, ask for changes, or walk away. If it is not for you, you owe nothing.
- You pay once and the site goes live on your own domain with SSL.
Questions owners ask
Do you have an office in the Chicago area?
No. We are a studio from Kaunas, Lithuania. Robertas is in the Chicago area until November 18, 2026 and happy to meet in person. After that we work remotely.
Have you built sites for businesses around here?
Not yet. Our clients so far are in Lithuania and Sweden, and their sites are live on our work page. That is why the first version is free: you judge our work on your own business before you pay anything.
Can we meet in person?
Yes, until November 18, 2026. Leave your details on the free preview form, tell us where you are, and we set a time.
Do I need a website if I already have a Google Business Profile?
The profile gets you on the map. The website is where people check your work, your prices and the towns you serve before they call. They work best together. More on that in Google Business Profile vs. a website.
What does it cost?
A fixed price, agreed on the 15 minute call before any work starts. The first version is free. Here is how our pricing works.
