Websites for Huntley, IL businesses that are easy to read
Huntley is home to Sun City Huntley, which the village calls the largest active-adult community in the Midwest, and 34.1% of its residents are 65 or older. Websites for businesses here should have large, clear text and a phone number people can see and tap.
An older town than most
The village's population page says Sun City Huntley, an age 55+ community, has over 5,500 homes, and the Talamore subdivision adds 276 more age-restricted units. It gives Huntley a median age of 49.7, against 39.4 for the US. Census QuickFacts puts Huntley at 27,740 people in 2020 and an estimated 29,132 on July 1, 2025. Of them, 34.1% are 65 and over in the 2020 to 2024 estimates, and 54.1% of those 16 and over are in the labor force. So if you sell a furnace tune-up, a deep clean or a new grab bar in the bathroom, a good share of the people reading your site are 65 or older, and many of them are not at work on a weekday.
What easy to read means on a website
None of this is fancy. It just has to be there from the first version:
- Text you can read without zooming, and a page that still works when someone does zoom in.
- Dark text on a light background. The accessibility guidelines ask for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text, and the W3C's explanation of that rule says the level is meant to account for, among other things, the loss of contrast sensitivity that typically accompanies aging.
- Buttons with words on them, like “Call us” or “Ask for a quote”, instead of icons people have to guess.
- Nothing that moves on its own. Sliders that change every few seconds and pop-ups that cover the page make it easy to lose your place.
- A short menu. Five clear choices are easier than twenty.
What we saw on 19 business websites in Huntley
We opened each site in Safari on an iPhone-sized screen in October 2026 and noted only what owners can check on their own phones. We picked some of these sites because they looked weak and others because they looked strong, so this is not a random sample of the town.
- 4 of 19
- did not fit a phone screen: the page was shrunk or slid sideways
- 6 of 19
- had no request or quote form we could find, on the home page or the contact page
- 3 of 19
- had no phone number anywhere on the home page
- 8 of 19
- passed every check: fit the screen, a request form, a tap-to-call button and a valid HTTPS certificate
8 of the 19 Huntley sites passed every check. 3 showed no phone number anywhere on the home page, which matters most for the customers who would rather call than type.

A phone number people can read and tap
Pew Research Center's 2026 mobile fact sheet found that 79% of U.S. adults 65 and over own a smartphone, and 14% have a cellphone that is not a smartphone. So your number has to work two ways. On a smartphone, one tap should start the call. On a laptop or a tablet, the digits should be big enough to read across a table and dial from another phone. Put the number at the top of every page with your hours next to it. Then make sure the call gets answered, or that your voicemail says when you will call back.
Answer the questions people ask on the phone
A clear page saves you both a long call. Say what an estimate or a service visit costs, or how you set the price. Say how soon you can usually come and what happens after someone gets in touch. Show the person who does the work, with a photo and a first name. If you do a lot of jobs in Sun City, say so by name and show one or two, with the homeowner's permission. Quote reviews word for word and link to your Google profile so people can read the rest.
Who we are
Robertas and Arminas run built.lt, a web studio in Kaunas, Lithuania, and builtlit is its American name. We have not built a site in Huntley or anywhere else in the US; our clients are in Lithuania and Sweden. That is why we start with a free first version. In 2 days your own site is on your phone, ready to try, and if it is not for you, you owe nothing. Robertas is near Chicago until November 18, 2026 and can sit down with you in Huntley before then.

Questions owners ask
Can we meet in Huntley?
Yes, until November 18, 2026. Tell us on the preview form where you are and when suits you, and Robertas will come by. Later, everything else can be done over the phone, by email or on WhatsApp.
Many of my customers are retired. Do they really look online?
Many do: 79% of U.S. adults 65 and over own a smartphone, by Pew's count. Some may read your site on a laptop and then call from a landline or a basic cellphone, since 14% of that age group have a cellphone that is not a smartphone. That is why the number has to be easy to read, not only to tap.
How can I tell if my text is big enough?
Hold your phone at a normal distance and read your own home page without zooming. Then hand it to an older customer or a neighbor and watch where they get stuck. Our website checker also runs accessibility checks on your page.
Can I see a site you built nearby?
Not nearby, since we have no clients in Huntley or anywhere in the US yet. You can open what we built for companies in Lithuania and Sweden on our work page. Your own free first version is the better test, though: it shows what we would do for your business.
