Painting contractor websites with room-by-room estimate requests

Painting is priced by the room, the surfaces and the prep, so "paint my house" is really a request for a site visit. Your site takes room-by-room requests with a photo of each room, and shows rooms and houses you actually painted.

Where it goes wrong today

1

The same gray living room as every other painter

A stock photo of a fresh accent wall and a roller tells a homeowner nothing. They want to see a clean line where the wall meets the ceiling, cabinets you refinished, a two-story exterior on a street like theirs. Without your own work on the page, price is the only thing left to compare.

2

"Paint my house" and nothing else

Walls only or ceilings too, trim and doors, a dark color going light, cracked plaster, cedar siding or vinyl. Each of these changes the price, and none of them fit in a message box. So even a single bedroom turns into a visit or a long text thread.

3

Interior and exterior mixed on one page

Exterior work follows the weather, and interiors run all year. A single services page does not tell the January customer that you paint indoors in winter, and the exterior customer cannot find one house you did.

What your site does

An estimate request that goes room by room

The visitor picks interior, exterior or both. Inside, they add rooms one at a time and tick what needs paint in each: walls, ceiling, trim, doors or cabinets. Outside, they give the stories, the siding and extras like a deck or a fence. Each room or side of the house gets its own photo. You get a list you can price from, and you decide which jobs need a walkthrough first.

How a customer uses it

  1. Choose interior, exterior or both.
  2. Add rooms one by one, and tick walls, ceiling, trim, doors or cabinets for each.
  3. For the outside, give the number of stories and the siding, and add a deck or fence if it needs paint or stain.
  4. Attach a photo per room or per side, pick a rough start month, and send.

What your site can include

  • Room-by-room estimate request with a photo for each room
  • Separate pages for interiors, exteriors, cabinets, and decks and fences
  • A portfolio of your own jobs, with before and after from the same spot
  • The prep you include, like patching, sanding, caulking and primer, written out
  • The paint lines you use, and how many coats a job gets
  • Lead-safe certification shown for work on older homes, if you hold it
  • Your insurance, and your license if your state asks for one
  • SEO basics and Google Maps, with SSL on your own domain

We agree what goes into your site on the 15 minute call, and the fixed price covers all of it.

Questions owners ask

Can I give an estimate from photos alone?

For some jobs, like one bedroom or a fence, the list and the photos may be enough for a price range. For a whole exterior you will still want to walk around the house. The request tells you which is which before you reply, and what you send back is up to you.

Should the site say which paint brands I use?

If you stick to a few lines, yes. It explains part of the gap between your estimate and a cheaper one, and some homeowners already have a brand in mind. List only what you actually buy.

I paint interiors in winter and exteriors in summer. Can the site follow that?

Yes. The homepage can lead with interior work from late fall and switch to exteriors in spring, by date, and the gallery can follow. On the optional care plan we adjust it whenever you want.

How much is a website for a painting company?

There is no price list. You get a fixed price on a 15 minute call about your work and your customers, before anything is built, and you pay it once. We build the first version free in 2 days, and if it is not what you want, you owe nothing.

Have you built a site for a painter?

No painter yet, and no US clients. Our clients are in Lithuania and Sweden. The closest is the terrace builder above, whose site is built around finished jobs with a page for each one. Robertas, who runs builtlit, is in the Chicago area until November 18, 2026 and glad to meet in person.
