Websites for St. Charles, Illinois businesses

St. Charles, Missouri counted 70,493 people in the 2020 census, more than twice the 33,081 counted in St. Charles, Illinois. Websites for businesses here that never say Illinois leave Google, map apps and out-of-town visitors to work out which one you mean.

Say Illinois every time you say St. Charles

Both counts come from the Census Bureau's QuickFacts for the two cities. Nearby, Google has the searcher's location to go on. Further out, it has less to work with: a wedding guest planning a trip from another state, a directory that copied your listing, a link shared with no context. Fixing it mostly means writing the state down in the right places:

  • Page titles like “Plumber in St. Charles, IL”, never just “St. Charles”.
  • Your address in the footer of every page: street, St. Charles, IL and ZIP code. If you hide your street on Google because you work at customers' homes, still show the city, state and ZIP.
  • One spelling everywhere. Choose “St. Charles” or “Saint Charles” and use it on your site, your Google Business Profile, Bing Places and Apple Maps. See name, address and phone consistency.
  • LocalBusiness markup with IL as the state, so search engines can read it in the code as well as on the page. Schema markup, explained plainly shows what goes in it.
  • A map link that opens on your actual door, not the middle of town.

What we saw on 10 business websites in St. Charles

We opened each site in Safari on an iPhone-sized screen in October 2026 and noted only what owners can check on their own phones. We picked some of these sites because they looked weak and others because they looked strong, so this is not a random sample of the town.

0 of 10
did not fit a phone screen: the page was shrunk or slid sideways
0 of 10
had no request or quote form we could find, on the home page or the contact page
2 of 10
had no phone number anywhere on the home page
8 of 10
passed every check: fit the screen, a request form, a tap-to-call button and a valid HTTPS certificate

Every St. Charles site we opened fit the phone screen and had a request form. Where some fell short was the phone itself: 2 of 10 showed no phone number anywhere on the home page, so a visitor ready to call had to go looking.

Visitors come for food, theaters and festivals

The city's economic development office calls St. Charles a destination for food, fun, and entertainment, and says festivals such as Jazz Weekend and Scarecrow Fest draw thousands of visitors a day. When some of your customers are first-time visitors, a restaurant, salon, shop or event venue site has to work for someone who has never been to your door:

  • Event weekend hours on the site, and the same ones set as special hours on Google.
  • Your menu, price list or room sizes as real text on the page, not a PDF that has to be pinched and zoomed.
  • Where to park and which door to use, in a line or two.
  • A reservation or booking link someone can tap while walking along the river.
  • For venues, open dates and an inquiry form that asks for the date, the guest count and the kind of event. Our banquet hall article goes through it.

Name the places around the city

The St. Charles Area Chamber of Commerce describes the St. Charles area as including the City of St. Charles, St. Charles Township, Campton Hills, Wasco and surrounding communities within School District 303. If you work in those places, write them out on your service pages and in your Google Business Profile service areas, so a customer in Wasco or Campton Hills sees their own town on your site. The city's community profile lists two counties, Kane and DuPage, so a line such as “St. Charles, IL, serving Kane and DuPage counties” is accurate if your work crosses the county line.

Questions owners ask

Will you come to St. Charles to meet in person?

Yes, up to November 18, 2026. Robertas stays near Chicago until that date and can come to your restaurant, shop or office. Ask on the free preview form. From November 18 on, the work carries on by phone, WhatsApp and email.

Does Google mix up St. Charles, Illinois and St. Charles, Missouri?

For people searching nearby, it has their location to go on. The risk sits where that clue is missing: a visitor planning a trip from far away, a copied directory listing, a page that only says “St. Charles”. Writing IL next to the name everywhere takes the guessing out.

Should my site show festival hours?

If your hours change for an event weekend, yes. Put them on the site and set them as special hours in your Google Business Profile, so both say the same thing on the day.

Do you have clients in St. Charles?

No, and no US clients at all yet. Before you decide anything, look at the client sites on our work page; those businesses are in Lithuania and Sweden.
