Small business websites done right in the Chicago suburbs
In October 2026 we opened 296 local business websites around Elgin, Huntley, Crystal Lake, Schaumburg, Naperville and nearby on an iPhone-sized screen. These 53 small business sites passed every check: they were done right. Open them on your phone and see what a site that brings in calls looks like.
How we picked them
Each site had to do four things on a phone, checked by opening it in Safari on an iPhone-sized screen: fit the screen without pinching or sliding sideways, have a request or quote form on the home page or the contact page, have a phone number you can tap to call, and open with a valid HTTPS certificate. Then we looked at each one ourselves and picked the clearest few for each trade, leaving out any where a popup covered the first screen. We did not judge prices or reviews, and none of these businesses asked to be here or paid anything. We have no connection to any of them.
What the good ones have in common
They are not fancy. Many of them put the phone number or one clear button on the first screen and say which towns they serve. That is most of the trick, and it is why we check these four things first on any site, including the ones we build.
